HOW OUR COSTS MOUNT UP SO QUICKLY

Many people do not realise just how much money a rescue has to spend when it cares for a dog.  Sometimes the animal will come in already neutered and vaccinated, meaning we just have to pay boarding, however most of the time we do need to start from scratch with the Veterinary side of things.  Our vets are very helpful and keep our costs to the minimum, and the kennels are also very supportive charging us the absolute minimum of £5 for a small dog up to £9 for a large dog per day (and not just boarding and exercising the dogs but also putting a lot of time and effort into their rehabilitation and teaching them basic manners if necessary).

All our dogs are vet checked, chipped, vaccinated and neutered (unless too young or otherwise medically not possible).

These are the prices we have to pay for a dog who is in our care for just a fortnight and needs the full vet service - bear in mind that we have to keep them quiet for several days after surgery so it is not possible to cut short the recuperation boarding.  Many dogs are with us a lot longer than a fortnight, with the costs for boarding mounting day by day.

We ask for a minimum donation of £120

Then there are the dogs who urgently need medical treatment - one of the foster dogs (who is guessed to be around 3 or 4 years of age and is a small dog) had to have TWELVE teeth removed due to the appalling state they were in.  This cost £232 (luckily paid for by a couple of benefactors who were so upset at the state he was in).  Other dogs are simply abandoned when their original owners find they have a medical condition - if lifetime treatment is needed we will sponsor the dog for the rest of its life and cover bills for that particular condition, so that the dog has a chance of finding a decent home without the new owner having to worry about funding for something that was before their time.

There are also (luckily very few) cases where an animal has been involved in an accident and needs treatment but no owner can be found.  Sadly these dogs sometimes have to be put to sleep due to their injuries, but we will pay the vet bills incurred, along with those of any injured ones who can be saved.
