Jacko - Dog of the Month
Jacko is 8 months old - we were asked to step in when he
needed life saving surgery (and many thanks to the local
RSPCA who split the bill with us). He is a big,
powerful pup and needs an experienced handler to help
him reach his full potential

Ceredigion Animal Rescue and Education is a local charity, based near
Cardigan and covering the Three Counties (Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and
Carmarthenshire) which puts the money it raises towards rehoming
or fostering local dogs that need help. If a dog is in danger and
needs to be moved out of another part of the UK for safety we do what we
can to assist.

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED
If you could offer a foster home to any of
the dogs in the kennels they would be grateful, it reminds them how to
behave in a home.

At first thought a dog would be a lovely addition to a household, but
why do so many end up in rescue? Sadly many people do not look at
the commitment involved. Things to consider before
adopting a dog. There is a very powerful message about rescue

Ten Commandments

1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any
separation from you will be painful remember that before
you get me.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me- it is crucial to my well
being.
4. Do not be angry at me for long, and do not lock me up
as punishment.
5. You have your work, your entertainment,and your
friends. I only have you.
6. Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don't understands
your words, I understand your voice when it is speaking
to me.
7. Be aware that how ever you treat me, I will never
forget.
8. Remember before you hit me that I have teeth that
could easily hurt you, but I choose not to bite you
because I love you.
9. Before you scold me for being
uncooperative,obstinate,or lazy, ask yourself if
something might be bothering me. Perhaps I might not be
getting the right food, or I have been out too long, or
my heart is getting to old and weak.
10. Take care of me when I get old; you too will grow
old. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say: "I
cannot bear to watch" or "Let it happen in my absence."
Everything is easier for me if you are there, even my
death.

Is your dog microchipped? It makes it far
easier to reunite a lost pet with its family. We can microchip
your dog (or cat) at our shop in Pendre, Cardigan for just £10. |

Can you spare any time to help

| Can you help transport any dogs? Either just to
the vet and back or maybe further? The dogs need to be secure in
your car, we can provide a crate if necessary. |

Could you join the rota for taking
phonecalls? Ideally you would have internet access so you can
email any information over to our co-ordinator, but even if you don't we
would still appreciate your help. |
| Maybe you could visit the dogs in
kennels and walk them - we have a rota for this so that we know who will
be visiting the site and when. |

We have a shop selling Bric a Brac in Cardigan
- it's near the pedestrian crossing in Pendre. Maybe you could
help out there a couple of hours every so often? If you have any
unwanted items (not furniture or electrical) please drop it in as it all
helps to raise funds. |

and takes a special type of person. |

subscription helps us to care for the dogs. (We are in the process
of revamping our forms so please contact us and we will send out a basic
one - sorry!) |

There are times when we may not be able to take your dog in but please ring for advice, we
can advertise neutered dogs as private rehomings to help. We will
arrange to come and assess your dog in its normal environment before
agreeing to accept it as a CARE dog.
Rehoming centres and
rescues have bills to pay and are
very unlikely to be able to pay you to take
in your dog!! |
